“Remember, remember always, that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.”
— Franklin D. Roosevelt
My passion and purpose is to advocate for human rights. I am galvanized by inhumane governmental policies to work boldly, creatively, and collaboratively to dismantle systemic oppression.
Separating parents from their children, stripping people of their constitutional rights and indefinitely detaining people are gross human rights violations. When I learned in June 2018 that there were at least 120 asylum seekers being detained in a federal prison in Oregon—in my own state—I jumped right in, joining the ACLU in a lawsuit to gain access to the detainees. And because I run an immigration law practice that focuses on asylum and removal defense cases, I knew I could make an impact and took four clients on pro bono. I also traveled to the US-Mexico border in November 2018 to provide legal aid to asylum seekers arriving in the migrant caravans. I frequently lecture and speak publicly about immigration issues, and lead community-organizing efforts to make our world safe and inclusive for all of us.
My expertise also extends to employment and family-based immigration matters.
If you have an immigration issue, or if you are like-minded/hearted, let’s CONNECT.
